Infusion is a slow and even intravenous or intraarterial application of a particular substance of a physiologically active or inactive dilution. The infusion achieves a long-lasting and uniform entry of matter in the form of a dilution directly into the bloodstream. This is a significant difference with respect to ordinary injections where a small volume of dilution is applied.
