Belgrade Theater - The Bitef Theatre is located on the corner of Drinciceva and Knez Miletina streets, on a small square, square Mire Trailović, next to the ever so popular Bajloni market, in the vicinity of the bohemian quart Skadarlija. The Bitef theater is housed in an unusual building, whose original purpose was a religious purpose. In 1940, with the plan to form the Evangelical - Christian church Germans began construction of the building. But the plan was never realized, the building was never consecrated and did not become a religious building. Between 1988 and 1989 the building was reconstructed and adapted to the needs of the theater and was given to the Bitef Theatre for use. 28 years later, the Evangelical church is still home to one of the most unusual theaters in the Balkans.
The Bitef Theatre is an avant-garde theater founded in 1989 with the aim of spreading the influence of the then very popular BITEF festival, as well as discovering and nurturing new theater and drama tendencies and providing space to artists whose work does not belong to the classical theater scene.
Bitef Theatre has no permanent employees or actors, but employs by project.
The unique repertoire of Bitef Theatre attracts every visitor of Belgrade and Belgraders themselves, as it is one of the most popular theaters, and tickets for shows get sold out very quickly.
The box office working hours of the Bitef Theatre are from 6pm to 8pm when there is a play performance, ticket reservations can be achieved by calling 069 899 24 00 between 10am and 2pm, and 16pm and 8pm every day.
