Ljutić is a bar that opened a few years ago in the backyard of a wonderful but rather neglected art nouveau house from the turn of the 20th century. Except for a small sign on the front gate there is little in this quiet street to announce that you are in front of an ever-growing, popular spot. Don’t worry, low profile is how they like it here.
During nice weather everyone is seated outside, enjoying the spacious yard, a real oasis amidst the tall neighboring buildings. In case of bad weather the guests fill in the small house, previously a backyard shack and now turned into a cozy ensemble of tumbledown chairs and tables. In winter the venue moves into the vaulted old cellar that you enter from the other, lower side of the house.
Like its location the, decoration in Ljutić is also in a constant flux. It might seem like a ramshackle of old items but many of the paintings and details are made by young and upcoming artists. Some of them are on sale.
What I really like here is the leisurely atmosphere. The waitresses sing along to the music and seem to know a good deal of guests. Thus drinks are served serenely and with a smile – exactly how it should be in a place that seems more like a friend’s place than a commercial enterprise.
