Belgrade , Knez Mihailova 42 |
Belgrade Attractions - Among the fascinating pieces of Serbian architecture is the Zepter Museum building located in Knez Mihailova Street. The building was designed by architect Dionis Andrija Sunko for the needs of the First Croatian Savings Bank, which would be located in the heart of Belgrade. The Croatian Savings Bank moved into the building, which significantly contributed to the authentic appearance of Knez Mihailova Street, and today is a cultural and artistic center of exceptional value.
Like most buildings at the time the Savings Bank was opened, this building had a dual purpose. The ground floor and the first floor belonged to the stove, while the floors made apartments for rent or stay. It stands out for its three facades, the most decorative of which is overlooking Knez Mihailova Street and was modeled after magnificent palaces made under the influence of Berlin Art Nouveau. Particular attention was paid to the aesthetic elements within the building itself. In 2010, the Zepter Museum moved to this address.
Madlena Zepter was the founder of the museum, which included art lovers and a curious audience in one place. Zepter Museum is registered as the first private museum in Serbia.
