Belgrade Attractions - Alexa Krsmanovic's house or Krsmanovic's house is located on Terazije, an extremely busy part of the city. Although it is a magnificent building, today its significance is forgotten.
Krsmanovic's house was built in 1885 at the request of Belgrade's Joce Markovic Square as a lavish family villa. How beautiful and beautiful the exterior is is the fact that many considered it a real small castle. However, because of the large debts, the Markovic family had to sell their luxurious family villa to Alexa Krsmanovic, a reputable plum and salt exporter, president of the Belgrade Commercial Bank. After the death, the house was bequeathed to the Serbian people. The task of the Alexa Krsmanovic Endowment remained active with the task of erecting homes for children without parental care throughout Serbia.
After World War I, the Krsmanovic House served as the residence of Regent Alexander I Karadjordjevic after most of the yards were damaged and demolished. An important event is the proclamation of the Kingdom, Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1918. A few years later, the ground floor of the house was transformed into the elite cinema "Adria". Krsmanovic's house remained remembered as the building of the Protocol of the State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs of the SFRY and the Diplomatic Club during World War II.
Today it is known as the House of Culture, as an open space for all who want to actively participate in the promotion of the cultural scene in Serbia.
