Belgrade Attractions - The Belgrade Cooperative Building is located in Karadjordjeva Street in Savski venac. Today it is considered one of the monuments of culture and cultural property of great importance. It was built in 1907 and is one of the greatest architectural works of Nikola Nestorovic and Andre Stevanovic. The building was modeled after the Paris Exhibition and Decoration School of Paris. The Belgrade Cooperative Building or Palace is one of the most significant works of Belgrade architecture from the beginning of the 20th century. For the first time, the latest construction methods and materials were used for its construction, as well as rich sculptural and decorative plastics.
The Belgrade Cooperative Building was established for the needs of the Belgrade Cooperative for Mutual Help and Savings, a medium-sized lending company and for financing business activities. The building is designed as a sumptuous two-story building with a middle section and two side wings. A little later, the building was reconstructed for the needs of the Geological and Geophysical Institute "Jovan Zujovic" when the third floor was added on the side wings and three floors on the central part. Recently, in 2014, it was reconstructed as part of the Belgrade Waterfront Project.
The Belgrade Cooperative Building has enjoyed the status of a cultural monument since 1966 and, since 1979, the status of a cultural property of great importance.
